The Anti-Hero Filmmaker Fabrizio Federico

'Id rather create chaotic films, they're more beautiful.  Parent's hate my movies, cose I deal in state's of mind not discipline. It's the antithesis of professionalism & craftsmanship - more like sorcery. Be childish & irresponsible when creating, with the minimum of means. Regard my projects as epileptic fits.''

An auteur filmmaker. Born in the UK in 1983 and the oldest of  6 siblings, Federico was raised in an Italian/Jamaican culture.  After surviving a house fire in 1989 which started late one night while he was watching Godzilla, him and his family narrowly escaped with their lives, having to escape by jumping out of their upstairs window. All that survived from their house was a photo of his recently deceased grandfather.

He fell in love with cinema as a young boy after moving to Italy. Films such as the Italian Spaghetti Westerns, Casper cartoons and the comedies of Paolo Villaggio (Fantozzi) all made an impression - as a teenager more avant-garde films by Dennis Hopper, Kenneth Anger, Andy Warhol & Pasolini  captured his imagination to create movies outside of the mainstream.

After being deported from the USA in 2006 Federico settled back in the UK.
For his debut feature film Black Biscuit (2012) he chose homeless people, sex workers & addicts to star in the film. Raising the funds by nude life modeling & going from door to door asking people to donate a £1.00. Most of the filming was done using car crash stolen cameras, mobile phones and children's cameras. There was no script, and he didn't tell anyone what the movie's plot was about during filming. His only direction was ''just be yourselves and either make me sick, amazed or inspired'' The film was called ''A rubik's cube of images.''

It was around this time that his controversial PINK8 manifesto emerged, which created hostility, uncomprehending indifference and submission in the filmmaking world.

In The Milk Man (2013) became an abandoned vérité film project. The movie focused on a milk man who spiked local families milk bottles with LSD on his morning route's. The project was abandoned after the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF) who were notified about the film and threatened to sue over alleged defamation regarding the films subject.

His next film Pregnant (2015) was released, which focuses on technology addiction in the 21st century & the mass hypnosis of a generation''. We witness the Facebook/Youtube generation's inner spiritual stagnation & mass disconnection from society, as they come to grips with this new madness called reality. During the filmming Federico was accused of arson after a misunderstanding concerning one of the films shoots.

During this period Jett Hollywood was born. Federico's alter-ego (Ziggy Stardust's illegitimate son). A filmmaker from Mars.
He promised to create two films and then commit 'cinema suicide'. Evolution Of The Earth Angel (2015) & Anarchy In The UK (2016) were the two films that emerged.
A controversy emerged from a Jett Hollywood's suicide note which appeared online by his alter ego Jett Hollywood which resulted in an inquest. It prompted a disappearance case which revolved around the cryptic note which has since been withheld.
In 2016 the 1st Straight Jacket Guerrilla Film Festival launched 30 international films across the world, exploring today's Underground/Cult cinema makers.

At the core of the film LOON (2017) lies a folie à deux relationship between two cousins, 16 year old Charlie Sheen (who wishes to be called 'Keith' - even though no one does) and his poison minded 18 year old cousin Georgia Sheen; who's aggressive, cunning, sexual personality has hypnotised her younger cousin into doing anything she wishes.

An experimental melodrama with presidential assassination bulletins and a parody of children's record-read along book set. Charlie is a nihilistic icon, he's a kleptomaniac and a compulsive liar living in an incestuous tight knit family who have created a pillow world for him (he's also on prescription tablets - his medical condition is never explained), to sink deeper into his fantasy lifestyle of becoming a famous drummer like his hero Keith Moon.

The climate of Brexit looms as this tragedy unfolds. While unemployed his loner life is largely based on crime, daydreaming and pleasing Georgia's superior super-woman Nietzsche anti-heroine.

To date his last film Teddy Bears Live Forever (2019) about a former 'it girl' suffering from multi-personality disorder was made in a single room with one actress as she unraveles into psychosis, and finally decides to go outside to lose her virginity.

An apt end to a chaotic career.

THE NEW REBEL VOICE OF CINEMA

Filmmaker Fabrizio Federico is that rare anomaly of everything that is anti-fashion that he becomes fashion. He is culturally relevant, part of popular culture. And he speaks to the outsider, non-conformist side of the film industry and transcends cinema. His audience reaches the outside of the movie industry. They are the people and influencers shaping our landscape.
He is like a man child, vulnerable yet tough. Recently featured among the best independent filmmakers of 2018, he’s very of the moment but timeless as well. Fabrizio feels like change in a good way. Lets follow him, he’ll rise as a new star with his new motion picture Teddy Bears Live Forever

Perma-wearing his sunglasses and pink beret he is a London film brat who represents the mystery and allure of the hard-edged British style re-packaged and taken global following the movie Anarchy In The UK: The New Underground Cinema. Mixing car crash cinema sportswear and poetic too-cool-to-care louche glamour beneath his dark-ringed eye sockets. It’s a lewk, darlings.

Fabrizio is no doubt more than what meets the eye… Known for showcasing his most personal thoughts and feelings in his films, Fabrizio has also been speaking up for real-life issues. If you ask us, there’s nothing better than a rebel with a cause. Following his own path of artistic freedom.

SHE IS SUFFERING - Richey Edwards influence on upcoming movie

The late glamorous Richey Edwards, guitarist of the Manic Street Preachers, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances in 1995, has seen his lyrics become the inspiration for an upcoming film currently in production.

Filmmaker Fabrizio Federico's next movie Teddy Bears Live Forever will be taking it's inspirations from Edward's final album with the Manic's, The Holy Bible.
Considered one of the most harrowing albums ever recorded, it's lyrics are a horror show of desperation, elegance and self-affliction which reflect Edwards genius and eye for capturing the chilling beauty of suffering throughout the ages.
An avid and voracious reader of political history and existential literature authors such as Primo Levi, Albert Camus, Philip Larkin, Yukio Mishima and Fyodor Dostoyevsky - his feelings of alienation and worthlessness were clearly reflected in his heartfelt lyrics which created a cult of personality around the guitarist.
Upon his disappearance a media frenzy occurred resulting in copycat disappearances, "a cause celebre among depressives, alcoholics, anorexics and self-mutilators, because he was the first person in the public eye to talk openly about these subjects, not with swaggering bravado and a subtext of "look how tortured and cool I am", but with humility, sense and, often, bleak humour" said The Times newspaper.

Federico has based this new film around a faded ''It girl'' called April suffering from severe multiple personality disorder, ''a lot of people identify with Richey, especially girls, there's something about his vulnerability that draws people in'' says the filmmaker, ''his lyrics are better then any script, they are so descriptive, especially songs like '4st 7lb', 'She Is Suffering' & 'Archives Of Pain' -  his talent for observation & detail are on a par with that of a criminologist, I find them incredibly inspirational and almost secret.''

The film looks at bringing Richey's alarming lyrics and infusing them with psychoanalysis. Sigmund Freud was very resistant towards cinema and psychoanalysis coexisting, thinking it impossible to render the psychoanalytic process cinematically. Actress Marilyn Monroe famously used to go to her analyst for inspiration regarding character roles, Monroe was also one of Edwards favourite icons.

The film was shot in 7 days in a bedroom as April discloses her world and struggles to have one of her personalities lose her virginity. ''It's a very intimate and poetic film, I want people to feel close to this character in the same way Richey's fans felt close to him, he was very brave talking about his feelings, I listened to that album not stop during that week and we could feel his aura during the films making, I dont know if he's dead or alive but it was unnerving and his presence is in the movie.''

THE JIMI HENDRIX OF CINEMA - Filmmaker Fabrizio Federico's Next Movie

''This film has no rules, it's an orgy of sight & sound stitched together to create mania.'' Movie-maker Fabrizio Federico's vision for his next film Teddy Bears Live Forever is miles away from being finished but finding it's voice organically is something that excites the underground filmmaker who is currently working on the editing phase of the film, ''I let the stars lead the way.''

A faded ''It girl'' suffering from a horrific schizophrenia disorder decides that it's time for one of her personalities to lose her virginity.
Whether her abuse problems first started in her teen's, from her celebrity modelling days - or was she abducted by Aliens; nobody knows.

The idea of the 'It girl' was first personified by actress Clara Bow in the movie 'It' (1927) which helped usher in the age of the flapper girl in the roaring 20's, also personified by wild child Louise Brooks, strong, opinionated and sexy.
The role of the vivacious, sexual, youth-quake is something every teenage girl must live up to, and tame due to the countless magazines and music videos depicting this type of personality
Over the years there have been many 'It girls' who have captured our hedonistic times, such as Kate Moss, Twiggy, Cornelia Guest, Paris Hilton, Kendall Jenner... but there are even more examples of tragic lives cut short due to the pressures and seductions of fame, such as, Gia, Donyale Luna, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Peaches Geldof and Edie Sedgwick.

Teddy Bears Live Forever captures the life of a faded 'It girl' called April who is suffering from multiple personality disorder. House bound she struggles with the voices in her head which brings to light her severe traumas. Even though April is not a virgin, one of her personalities is; and that personality, called 'Sam' wants to desperately lose her virginity. Watch as April sets out on her journey in order to quiet down forever the diabolical voices in her head.

ANTI-EASTWOOD - The New British Art-House Cinema

Cult Hero, the Lizard King, Enfant Terrible, Mr Voodoo Trick, but what is certain is that filmmaker Fabrizio Federico is helping widen a generation gap in the film industry by doing what isn't expected of a movie director.
He releases his films for free online, used mobile phones and CCTV cameras, casts street-superstars and doesn't use scripts or relies on funding to create his films; in the process, retaining 100% creative power over his movies.
He has always insisted on his own talentlessness, presenting it as a challenge to anyone who thinks they could do better. His mystique not only comes from his popstar good looks and outspoken views, but from the fact that his films appeal to the tribal magic that lurks in the shadows of cinemas hidden frames. It's primeval & occult qualities that he and filmmakers such as Kenneth Anger, Dennis Hopper & Gaspar Noe have also embodied. The raw sour milk of human bitterness from these directors of adult fare. It is a very seductive juju charm that the mainstream has long been weary of.

The manic and rowdy quality of Federico's films stem from his cinema manifesto Pink8 which has spawned an international collective of outsider filmmakers who are seeing the manifesto as a creed for a radical new step for a purer form of cinema. Federico never studied how to make films, learning everything from ground zero with some heartbreaking consequences, ''I lost my 1st film because my computer blew up; damn Dell computers, had to start all over again from scratch.''
His film Pregnant focuses on technology addiction in the 21st century. The mass hypnosis of a generation, as we witness each character's inner spiritual stagnation and mass disconnection from society. His debut feature film Black Biscuit is a portrait on wild youth and its lust for sex, drugs and money. His psychedelic editing & rhythm convey a shamanic quality to his films. Disorganised but focused, a slightly awe-struck air, his films are completely improvised. ''What appeals to me is the beauty and terror of particular vibes, from there I streamline each films path.''

Trouble also seems to follow him like a manic flame. Mainstream critics loath his films, to the point where Federico and film critic Chase The Whale have developed a long standing feud regarding critical hack jobs. And during a live radio interview in America, Federico was involved in a on air argument with several film critics after they had failed to watch his film. But his confidence and fearless attitude may originate from the fact that he survived a house fire at the age of five. ''I tasted deaths appetite at an early age, the world has seemed like an illusion ever since.'' There has also been rumours that he has sold his soul to the devil.

Challenging censorship his footage has been confiscated by the police because of his helter skelter commando style shooting tactics. But all this stems from his pure love for cinema. ''To me film is like a myth, a collection of all of the strengths and failings of humanity, magnified for us to figure out.''

Federico has currently set up the Straight Jacket Guerrilla Film Festival, he also starred in his first movie Kingdom of Shadows directed by the movie duo Clara Pais & Daniel Fawcett, and has also created a Ziggy Stardust style alter-ego of a film director from Mars, called Jett Hollywood. His new film LOON was released on Halloween 2017.''I enjoy the beauty of life, but Im also turned on by the dark absurdity and surrealism that life has to offer. Its a circus.''

*GONZO CINEMA* THE STORY OF 'LOON' - ''IT'S A GLORIOUS UNMADE BED''

Independent films are the life blood of the film industry, they have the wildest ideas and set the trends. The auteurs; independent because they cannot stand to make the films they truly want within a system they despise.
They live by their own vision and are stubborn, driven, talented, crafty, observant and tender all at the same time.

Taking risks and inventing new characters that are from the margins of society has never been Hollywood's main cultural demographic. Budget limitations mean nothing to filmmakers like Fabrizio Federico, hoodwinking is part of the game, and they are driven to tell their negative pick-up fables, ''I was stabbed with a fork while filming but I was so in the zone that I didnt feel a thing''.

Fabrizio has a desirable decadence mixed with an artistic atmosphere. His hippie, freaky teenage upbringing of moving countries, which impacted his gift of the gab and a sense of adventurousness. ''When I was a kid I would get all my village friends to pretend to be the Ex-President bank robbers from the movie Point Break, I was Ronald Reagan. That's when I became a filmmaker''.
Federico appears to have two quite distinct personalities co-existing (the dysfunctional filmmaker and the blissed-out stoner) his bohemian lifestyle puts him at odd's with authority figures ''I watched a lot of surfer movies and street films as a teenager like Midnight Cowboy, Panic In Needle Nose Park, Another Day in Paradise and I always rooted for the bad guys''.

Some big themes come up in Federico's work such as injustice, soul sacrifice, addiction and strangelove.  He see's underground and experimental cinema as a force to be appreciated by a bigger international mainstream audience. ''I like the idea of treating the audience to a chaotic, compelling aesthetic, to scramble their brains. I want to show them an uncomfortable time, I feel they can take it. They are not as innocent as they look.''

Loon has a random mix of stoned, catatonic moments, mixed with subliminal Kubrick messages, which then switch to troubled intimate teenage situations in bedrooms, somewhere their parents cant hear them, ''the film is just a glorious unmade bed.''
Most importantly the film is fun and trashy but intriguing in a deeper way, full of nonlinear narlyness. At the centre lies the films Dismaland pop-culture, main character Charlie Sheen is a petty thief, tied in a folie a deux relationship with his sinister older cousin Georgia. Suddenly his chaotic life style reaches a climax, ''this movie will make you take your mom to court''.

Authenticity of expression is a non-actors main virtuosity, meaning they are in the NOW, you can call it Zen filmmaking, they dont care about pretending to be someone else, there's no strings attached and they definitely dont give a fuck about the directors vision. But they are self-serving to express themselves, knowing that this is the only movie they will ever be in. Sometimes they use real drugs on camera to get in touch with their anxieties and phobias, and the effect is so voyeuristic it's uncomfortable viewing.
Loon is his 3rd feature film in a body of work that is strangely cohesive and definite for such a new artist. His identity is so embossed boldly onto each film that it feels less like something he created and more like an extension of himself.

In art-house films, ambiguity and uneasiness is much more involved on a personal level,
The big plus from the filmmakers point of view is that he has completed the movie he dreamed of and since it was zero-budget if the film bombs financially it doesn't matter.
It's a long list of filmmakers living the cinema dream this way, film outlaws such as Jim Jarmusch, Larry Clark, John Cassevetes, Todd Haynes, Abel Ferrara, Alex Holdridge and all the way to the present day.
Loon is an irrational movie, and a natural extension to this cannon of filmmaking.

CHAOTIC CINEMA - 'LOON' A CURSED MASTERPIECE [WATCH FREE]

When the director decides to use as the soundtrack to his new film an album recorded at the cursed Boleskine house, previously owned by the notorious magician Aleister Crowley and then Led Zeppelin's virtuoso guitarist Jimmy Page, you know that the sweet sinful life is on the horizon.

We'll have to wait and see how the film Loon divides audiences, and what intellectual debates will materialise over the films topics on family, obsession, abuse, racism, homophobia and Brexit. But what this experimental chaotic tale is really designed to show is a sick twisted family saga that could be happening right next door to you - they could even be your very own neighbour.

Ladies and gentlemen meet the Sheen family.

A spectacle machine is never a good neighbour. Their teenage son Charlie is both goofy and violent, but his racist/homophobic perspective is driven by his twin obsession of becoming a superstar drummer like his idol Keith Moon, which is matched by his uncontrolled passion for his batshit crazy but sensuous older cousin, Georgia.

The director Fabrizio Federico is very quiet but also very funny and slightly unusual, the whole nutcase thing came from him smoking pot because he didnt really have a temper before that. ''I just say how things make me feel, I hate being let down and I lose it sometimes, other then that Im happy to chill and see what happens.''
He's a very ambitious person and see's underground & experimental cinema being appreciated by a much younger international audience. ''Im giving the audience the benefit of the doubt, Im guessing if you're into my films your a bit wild to begin with'', ''a family can be like a war zone, only these characters dont care about landing on a mine.''

Getting that buzz-film reputation, Fabrizio is as much an intriguing character as his films, with a dark depth to them concerning shamanism, reincarnation, sex and addiction, they also have that pop-culture pulse beat that early Tarantino and Korine bring to cinema. That vivid film geek quality, except instead of being into genre films he's into cinematic anarchy.

I DON'T LIKE MONDAYS * LOON [FILM] (2017) ''Say hello to a 21st century teenager''

The lone star state of mind is a common thread in a teenagers life, but mixed with WW3 tensions running high in the world right now, lets turn this way and see how it's affecting today's youth. This is what LOON tackles.
From their perspective, why even bother to think of the future if we all might all get annihilated in the America VS. North Korea conflict, or a random terrorist attack. In the UK, Brexit has cast a dark shadow over the idea of a brotherhood of nations. Let's wave goodbye to moving forward as a collective Europe. Whats worse is that the youth never even organised any rallies warning their age group's about the referendum. They forgot to vote!!

It's hard to understand how this sense of no future, or even worse; no civilisation, can rub off on the youths conscience. In LOON's case the characters are abnormal, and primeval, detached from reality in different ways.
But prescription pills, dreams of marrying a family member and becoming a notorious drummer help fuel local pantie dropper main character Charlie Sheen's fantasies.

''Society and parents are an atomic combination when it come's to raising kids, it's impossible to hold onto them, even children are on the internet now. Mass media is raising your children. I wanted to introduce a new side of the teenagers psyche that you've never see in cinema before. Say hello to the 21st century teenager'' says filmmaker Fabrizio Federico. Made for £20 the film was shot with no script and as a fly on the wall to resemble CCTV footage, all filmed in the families home after several months and at Banky's experimental amusement park Dismal Land.

Director Fabrizio Federico
''It was a tough shoot, there was a big power struggle going on during shooting, lots of cancelled days and people disappearing and arriving late. There was absolutely no structure. I was even stabbed with a fork during the first week, non of the cast parted as friend's. Everyone has blocked each other on Facebook and the ouija board party was a big mistake.''

At the core of the film lies a 'folie à deux' relationship between two cousins, 16 year old kleptomaniac Charlie Sheen (who wishes to be called 'Keith' - even though nobody respects his wishes) and his poison minded 18 year old cousin Georgia, who's aggressive, cunning, sexual personality has hypnotised her younger cousin into doing anything she wants ''always do whatever I say, remember that.''

The soundtrack by Mao strives to take the viewer on an amazing sonic journey undertaken by hypnotised Tibetan monks, referencing Aleister Crowley's spectres since most of the album was recorded at his Boleskine House in Scotland.

Find out how.
LOON will be release on Halloween, October 31th internationally.

Movie Anarchy - No School, No Rules

Fabrizio Federico
It's time to take a trip into the chaotic world that is the film LOON, filmmaker Fabrizio Federico's new anti-film. The flower children in this movie are young rotten, racist & rude.

At the core of the film LOON lies a folie à deux relationship between two cousins, 16 year old Charlie Sheen (who wishes to be called 'Keith' - even though no one does) and his poison minded 18 year old cousin Georgia Sheen; who's aggressive, cunning, sexual personality has hypnotised her younger cousin into doing anything she wishes.
